About

DimNotes is an add-on to AutoCAD based products.
DimNotes makes it easy to add dimension notes to dimension objects in AutoCAD.
The list with notes is saved to a file and can easily be edited.
The note or comment can be added to different locations, before as prefix, after as suffix, above and below existing dimension text.
Existing notes can be replaced.
Multiple notes can be added.
Associative dimension value is retained.
Annotative dimensions supported.
Available as AutoCAD App (Plug-in).

When not registered DimNotes works as a free trial that is fully functional except that you can only add notes on five dimensions per AutoCAD session. When purchased it can be used without restrictions.

DimNotes can also be downloaded and installed as an app from the Autodesk Exchange Apps site. Purchase is also available through this site.

System requirements

Compatible with AutoCAD 2007 up to AutoCAD 2014. All flavors based on AutoCAD should be working like AutoCAD Architecture (ACA), Architectural Desktop (ADT), AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Electrical , AutoCAD Map 3D, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD MEP (AMEP, ABS), AutoCAD P&ID.

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Purchase

2 EUR for one license of DimNotes or less depending on the quantity of licenses.

When you purchase with PayPal you can use your credit card or bank account where available. You will be emailed the license (this is done manually but normally within 24 hours). If you want to purchase for example 15 licenses add first 10 to the chart and then add 5.

If you have a really many users that you want to give access to this software we can discuss a discounted price based on your particular situation and network license needs can be met. Educational discounts available.

The license is perpetual and support is included. If you have more than one computer and you are the only user of the application one license is enough.

Alternatively, there is support for bank transfer/wire transfer, or Checks and Money Orders through postal mail. Online transfers via giropay and Nordea Solo are also supported.

Installation of the AutoCAD plug-in

This option is available for AutoCAD 2012 or newer as well as verticals. This can be done both while AutoCAD is running or not running.
Enter the below path in Windows Explorer address field and press enter.
%appdata%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins
Extract DimNotes.bundle.zip in the ApplicationPlugins folder so that a folder named DimNotes.bundle is created with all needed files.
It can look like this where jtb is an example of the user name.
C:\Users\jtb\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\DimNotes.bundle
PackageContents.xml should be found in the DimNotes.bundle folder.
To uninstall, delete the DimNotes.bundle folder.

Another Installation Option

Download the software either with the installer or without installer.

Extract the files in dimnotes.zip and run setup.exe. Default installation location is C:\Program Files\JTB World\DimNotes.

Or download without installer and place the files manually in a folder of your choice.

Notice though that you should have it on your local PC or special .NET security settings needs to be done. An error message indicating this can be something like: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

JTBDimNotes.dll needs to be loaded by your AutoCAD application and that can be done in different ways. Use one of the following options.

Use the command NETLOAD and select JTBDimNotes.dll. This loads the command in the current session only.
Create a menu command, toolbar button or palette tool using CUI and force load it before running the command.
Macro or Command string:
^c^c(command "netload" "C:/Program Files/JTB World/DimNotes/JTBDimNotes.dll") DimNotes;
Use one of the AutoLoad...reg files. Double click on the file and accept to merge to the registry. This will make sure that the command DimNotes is available whenever you run AutoCAD.
Add the row below to your acad.lsp file so it loads automatically when AutoCAD starts.
(command "netload" "C:/Program Files/JTB World/DimNotes/JTBDimNotes.dll")

When manually installed the included DimNotes.bmp can be used as menu command image or toolbar button image and DimNotes.png can be used as palette tool image.

Usage

Command to use is DimNotes.

Alternatively use the button on the Ribbon tab Plug-ins.

Register

To register the software when you have purchased click on the Register button that is available when running the command DimNotes. Enter the register key you have got emailed in the text box.

Add Dimension Notes

Either you can pre select one or multiple dimensions or the command will ask you to select them.

Start by adding your typical notes.

JTBDimNotes.txt is the text file that holds the dimension notes. The file will be created when you start to add notes and have pressed OK. Use the Path button to change the location. The default location is in %appdata%\JTB World\DimNotes.

Select one of the notes.

Select the location where you want to place the note in relation to existing dimension text. The note can be added before, after, below or above existing text. There is also an option to completely replace the text so the associative dimension text is removed.

If you want to replace existing notes select the checkbox "Replace Existing Notes".

Solution to the following error is to right click on the DLL file and click on Unblock.

Cannot load assembly. Error details: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not
load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Users\JTB\AppData\Roaming\JTB
World\DimNotes\JTBDimNotes.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not
supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)

was made to load an assembly from a network location which would have caused
